You will be tested on your claim made today that you were making the statement “in the interests of good and open government and public debate”.

Here are the very brief outlines of the response to your statement fro the Khoodeelaar! Campaign against the Crossrail hole Bill. In the course of the coming days, weeks and more,

I shall be covering the full contents of both your statement as made in the House of Commons in London this afternoon and will examine the details f what the ‘legislative' programme’ as published alongside your statement.

The very first thing that I must put to you on your reference to the Eddington report and your use of the phrase infrastructure projects is this – be honest about the economy Gordon. If you won’t or can’t be honest, there will be no openness, no debate worth writing about. Having said that, I now turn to the other word or the concept that you have used. You have referred to ‘regeneration’.

Although you have done that while speaking about Housing, you could just as well be taking about the same infrastructure projects or needs when referring to ‘regeneration’

Here in inner city East End of London, that word is a most provocative, misleading and corrupting one. It is a mark of the untruth that has been perpetrated against the ordinary population in the East End of London for decades.

Going back at least 40 years – and to the times when James Callaghan was a minister in Harold Wilson’s cabinet.

Successive administrations – at all levels, starting from the ‘local’ Tower Hamlets Council and the sets of controlling cliques on it and their de facto counterparts constituting the ‘Undone mayor’ and the newly created and wasteful ‘Greater London Assembly’ through to the Blaired [UK central Govt] departments and units and agencies - have abused the word and have done so to further deny, deprive and impoverish the very people whom they have claimed be ‘regenerating’ in their routine inclusions of the word – and the concept- in statements about public expenditure programmes and agendas.

They have done so to denote the implementation of a programme in a distorted, misleading way and in effect to hide the fact that it had been conceived to take away more of the rights and resources from the people they were claiming to be ‘helping’ in their relevant schemes. On every occasion, they have done the opposite to helping the people or the areas concerned.

In other words, they have DEGENERATED the areas affected by those plans they were promoting as being about ‘regeneration’. It has happened on dozens of occasions.

As it is happening now.

As it is bound to happen in a far worse way than even you seem to realize, if the currently drafted version of the ‘Crossrail he plot Bill’ [the ‘hybrid ‘Crossrail Bill’ in the House of Commons] is left as it is and pushed through the Houses of Parliament as part of your programme legislation based on your statement today [Wednesday 11 July 2007].

The test of whether you are any more reliable or any more trustworthy than Tony Blair was, will occur in your conduct in response to our reiteration of the reasonable and the rational opposition to the contents of the ‘Crossrail hole Bill’ and to our pointing out to you its implications.

The ‘Crossrail hole Bill’ is a fundamentally flawed Bill which you appear to be bringing forward from the last BLAIR year because you think this will allow you a bit of propaganda space when dealing with the Big Business agents vocal on behalf of their colluders in the City of London and in its vicinities and bent on grabbing as much of the public sector cash as they can from your administration.

I have noticed your use of the word ‘regeneration’ too. Here in inner city East End, that word is a most provocative one. It is a mark of the untruth that has been perpetrated against the ordinary population in the East End of London .

They have done so to denote the implementation of a programme that in fact had been conceived to take away more of the rights and resources from the people they were claiming to be ‘helping’ in their relevant schemes.
